⭐️ Feature highlights

Dome inside, high ceiling

Superior ceiling height
Our geodesic dome features a ceiling height that is 2-4 feet higher than that of a regular geodesic dome, providing ample headroom and a spacious feel. Our customers have praised the dome's height, with many noting that it feels much larger in person than the paper data about its size would suggest. This feature is particularly appealing for those who plan to use the dome for events, gatherings, or as a living space.

To view the detailed ceiling height for each dome size, please refer to the 'Size & Weight' section.

dome hexagon door

Signature hexagonal door
The formal entrance to our geodesic dome is designed to enhance safety, appearance, and durability. The hexagonal shape of the door adds a unique visual element to the dome, while the sturdy construction ensures that the entrance can withstand heavy use and extreme weather conditions.

The hexagonal door is compatible only with the 20ft, 23ft, and 26ft geodesic domes. For other dome sizes, we offer alternative door options to ensure proper fit and functionality.
Fabric

Premium materials
We use only the highest-quality materials for our geodesic dome. Our opaque cover is made of 850gsm(25 oz/sq yd) PVC or PVDF polyester fabric, which is significantly thicker and more durable than the 650gsm(19 oz/sq yd) fabric used by many of our competitors. Our frame is made of stainless steel for our 16ft and 20ft domes, and double hot-dip galvanized steel for our other sizes, which provides superior strength and rust resistance compared to the cold-galvanized steel used by some competitors.

Precisely calculated to support different snow and wind loads
Our geodesic dome is engineered to withstand different levels of snow and wind loads, and we only charge you for what you need. This means that you won't be paying for unnecessary materials or features, and you can be confident that your dome will be structurally sound and secure, no matter the conditions.

      🌦️ Weatherproof

This dome is a versatile year-round shelter that is built to last. The cover is made from high-quality materials that are fire retardant, waterproof, mold-proof, and anti-UV, ensuring optimal protection from the elements. With a life span of 10 to 15 years, you can count on this dome to provide reliable shelter for years to come. The temperature range is between -40° to 158°F, making it suitable for use in a variety of climates and environments. Whether you're looking for a backyard greenhouse, a backyard guest house, or a wilderness shelter, this dome is the perfect choice.

Kindly be aware that the transparent window cover has a relatively shorter life span compared to the opaque part. Typically, the transparent window can last for approximately 3-5 years. 🪜 Installation

Geodesic domes are structures renowned for their strength, stability and distinctive spherical shape. While our geodesic domes are designed to be relatively simple and straightforward to construct, there are a few important factors to consider depending on your skill level and goals.

In terms of feasibility, our geodesic dome kits can certainly be assembled by non-professionals. The key requirements are a steady hand, good attention to detail and a firm, flat base on which to position the dome. Our kit comes with a simple yet comprehensive instructions to guide you through the entire construction process.

However, building a geodesic dome does require some knowledge of basic tools and construction techniques. If you lack confidence in your abilities or have no prior construction experience, it is generally best to hire a professional contractor or builder to ensure a sturdy, long-lasting final product.

In terms of time commitment, geodesic dome assembly times depend mainly on the dome size but also on the expertise of the builders. Smaller 16 foot diameter domes typically require 1-2 days for those with limited construction experience to assemble, while an experienced geodesic dome builder can complete the assembly in 3-4 hours. Larger domes like a 33 foot dome will predictably take longer - even an experienced 6-person crew may require around 6 hours to assemble a 33 foot diameter dome.

Once constructed, our domes are typically designed as permanent structures that could be used year round. However, our dome is also designed to be readily dismantled allowing you full flexibility to relocate elsewhere.

      ❓ FAQ

How can I keep the dome cozy inside?

Adding insulation liner is always recommended for keeping the dome cozy inside. This helps to keep warm air inside the dome during colder months and prevent heat from escaping. Additionally, you can use spray foam to insulate the deck beneath the dome. On top of it, consider adding a stove or radiant floor for warmth in winter and an AC for cooling in summer.

Do I need a permit for the dome?

The requirements for permits to build a geodesic dome can vary based on your location and the intended use of the dome. It's best to check with your local building department to determine if a permit is required. If needed, we can provide an engineering report and stamping for a certain cost. Check the Weatherproof section of our website for more details.

What are some tips for taking care of my dome?

To maintain the appearance and prolong the life of your dome cover, it is important to clean it every six months and prevent dirt and stains from accumulating on the fabric. Inspect the dome regularly and clean both interior and exterior walls as needed. To clean the dome, use a garden hose with a spray nozzle attachment and/or a mild soap solution with a soft bristle brush or rag. Avoid using solvents, heavy brushes, wire pads, or high-pressure steam cleaners, as they can damage the dome's surface. After cleaning, rinse the dome thoroughly with water to remove any cleaning solutions. It is also recommended to regularly brush out the window pockets and the bottom of the dome to remove dirt and leaves.

If I purchase a stove from you, will there be an opening for it in the dome?

Yes, we can typically provide an opening for the stove in the dome. This ensures proper ventilation and prevents any safety hazards.

What are the options for electricity and water in the dome?

The options for electricity and water in the dome can vary based on your location and the intended use of the dome. You may be able to connect to municipal utilities or use solar panels and rainwater collection systems. It's best to consult a local professional for details and recommendations.

How does the windows and insulation work together?

All windows are pre-cut and will fit with the insulation liner properly. This ensures that there are no gaps or areas where heat can escape.

How can I prevent small animals and insects from getting into the dome?

Use the hold-down stripes to seal the cover to the ground, and use sealing gel to seal the dome sides to prevent insects from coming in.

How can I ensure that the dome is completely waterproof?

The dome cover, windows, skylight, and door are designed to be waterproof. One thing that you’ll need to consider is ensuring proper drainage around the dome. We have two ways to help prevent water from coming inside. First, we provide a hold-down strip that can be used to seal the cover that goes outwards. Second, when you build the deck, you can carve out a channel around the dome to create drainage.

What would be a suitable size for a loft inside the dome?

A dome size of 26ft or larger is recommended for adding a loft inside the dome. Check our website for a project in Polish that used 26ft domes and lofts.

What kind of foundation is needed for a geodesic dome?

Geodesic domes can be built on wood decks, grassland, or concrete slabs. We provide different fixing methods to match the intended ground surface used.

How is the dome fixed to the ground, deck, or concrete?

Geodesic domes can be anchored to the ground using Expandale bolt/screw, Steel peg/ground anchor, or load-bearing plates. The fixing method used depends on the ground surface intended for use. Additionally, expansion screws are primarily used for fastening to hard surfaces, particularly concrete surfaces. Ground stakes, on the other hand, are primarily used for soft and muddy surfaces, especially on grassy or muddy terrain. Load-bearing plates can be installed on any ground surface without causing damage, making them particularly suitable for situations where the ground cannot be disturbed.

How do geodesic domes hold up in extreme weather conditions?

Due to their unique shape and structural design, geodesic domes are able to withstand extreme weather conditions such as high winds, heavy snow loads, and earthquakes. Check the Weatherproof section of our website for more details.

Can geodesic domes be used for commercial purposes?

Yes, geodesic domes are versatile and can be used for a variety of commercial purposes such as event venues, greenhouses, and even as office spaces.

Are geodesic domes portable and easy to relocate?

Whilst the domes are designed to be fixed structures, they can be readily dismantled allowing you full flexibility to relocate elsewhere. This makes them ideal for those who want to move their dome from one location to another.

      Are geodesic domes energy efficient?

Yes, due to their shape and design, geodesic domes are highly energy efficient. The compact shape helps to minimize surface area and reduce heat loss, while the use of insulation can further improve energy efficiency.

Can I build a geodesic dome myself, or do I need a professional builder?

Geodesic domes are straightforward to build and do not require specialist skills or tools. All you need is a firm, flat base. However, if you are not confident in your ability to build a dome on your own, it is recommended to hire a professional builder to ensure that the dome is constructed safely and efficiently.

How long does it take to assemble a geodesic dome?

The time it takes to assemble a geodesic dome can vary depending on the size of the dome and the expertise of the builders. On average, a 16ft dome can be assembled in 1-2 days, while a 26ft dome may take up to 4-5 days to assemble.
